SASES celebrates 30 years

30 years of Academic Excellence and International Collaboration.
The SASES Congress, convened from September 1st to 3rd, 2023, stands as a platform characterized by academic rigor, substantive discourse, and global networking.

The 2023 Congress was met with commendation from our distinguished international speakers who expressed their gratitude in recognition of the commendable support extended by the Organising Committee and members. Their appreciation extended to the active participation and substantial contributions of our members, which greatly enriched the quality of deliberations. We convey our heartfelt appreciation to the international speakers who generously devoted their time to convene in South Africa, thereby facilitating meaningful interactions.

This year, our society celebrated its 30th anniversary with a welcoming function on the Friday. The event witnessed the presence of former Exco members and past presidents of SASES, including some of the founding figures. The reunion provided a unique opportunity to acknowledge the seminal contributions of these individuals.

In addition to recognizing the success of the event, we extend our sincere gratitude to our sponsors whose steadfast support has been integral to the development and expansion of our society.

Looking ahead, we anticipate the forthcoming joint Congress in 2024, which will be held in collaboration with the International Hepatobiliary Association. The event is scheduled to take place in Cape Town at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). We eagerly await the participation of our dedicated members, as this event promises to be an influential gathering, fostering academic discussions and knowledge exchange.

The SASES Congress remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing surgical knowledge and fostering international collaboration.
